Pastor Yu was born in a devout Christian family. He was saved in his early teens and became the third generation of Christians in his family. Starting from a very young age, he has endured several medical treatments as well as eight surgeries for his tumor. As a result he has experienced and treasured this life in a very special way.

 

Pastor Yu came to the U.S. for graduate school in the late 70s. After receiving a Masters degree in the field of Computer Science and working in the Silicon Valley computer industry for twelve years, in 1991 Pastor Yu was called to full-time ministry by the Lord. He started the church of Christian Assembly in Cupertino with several brothers and sisters in 1993. In 2008, the church moved to its current location and changed its name to Silicon Valley Christian Assembly. He has continued to lead the church.

 

In 2007,  Cedar Training Center was formed, with the goal of equipping the saints worldwide. Students are mostly co-workers from churches in North America and China, as well as some from Europe and Australia.

 

Pastor Yu frequently brings his ministry to other churches both inside and outside of the States. His teachings are grounded in biblical truth with focus on spiritual growth and practical life application, emphasizing on the topics of “Building of the church” and “The Testimony of the body of Christ." By serving the Lord for many years while still working full-time, along with planting a church in Silicon Valley filled with temptations and pressure, his messages provide many practical and profound insights to those who sincerely seek the Lord. 

 

Pastor and Mrs. Yu often travel around the world to serve many churches. Their message is based on the truth, focused on both the spiritual growth and practical aspects of life. As they served many years while they were still working in the tech industry, they have a lot practical insight to brothers and sisters who want to serve while working in the demanding business sector.

 

Mrs. Yu worked in Silicon Valley for 17 years before she answered the Lord’s long time calling to full time ministry in 1998. She has continued her divinity education while as assisting Pastor Yu in shepherding the church. Her ministry includes music worship, literature, counseling, and teaching, Mrs. Yu has a special burden for the next generation of young adults, which has become yet another important area of her ministry.

 

Pastor and Mrs. Yu have been married for more than 30 years.

They have two adult sons, who along with their wives serve in our church, and five very adorable grandchildren.
